That’s from the episode “Fun and Games” in Season 2. Can’t remember the episode number but basically they were under attack and I guess Kitty was too overwhelmed by all the robot thingies and the walls came up unexpectedly, so she didn’t actually know how many walls there were and so she lost focus/got tired?

I disagree with you're opinion about Jean, mostly because I view what she's doing as a case of extreme mental manipulation and abuse. The way she's treating Warren is pretty much inhuman. So I think that there needs to be repercussions for her actions, she can't continue to be an abuser. And just being under the immense amount of stress she is does not give her the right to dehumanize and abuse another. (nothing justifies abuse, no abuse should go unrecognized and in most cases unpunished)

I never said her actions were justified. Never. And she DID get her just deserts when the Cuckoos attacked her. I’m just saying it was rather extreme (a little too far, in my opinion). And to me (I only say this because many people still seem to see her as the same Jean we’ve known for years. She’s not.), she’s 16 and untrained. She does not fully understand what her telepathy entails and she’s just starting to learn. People make mistakes and then pay for them. Jean is fundamentally human. She makes mistakes. Also, what Emma ordered and allowed the Cuckoos to do was also, in your eloquent words, “extreme mental manipulation and abuse.” I don’t think that was fully justified either. An eye for an eye isn’t the way to go but of course, for the sake of comic book drama, we all need that.

I love Jean, but I think Emma was in the right here. Since she arrived to the school she's been coddled a lot. If anyone else (i.e Quentin) acted the way she did, the X-Men would stomped them. yes, her circumstances suck, but that doesn't excuse her behavior and Emma had to show her exactly what it feels like to have someone romp about freely where they shouldn't. I don't think it was really personal, just her being a tough teacher. If it were personal, I think she'd let Jean destroy herself.

I still disagree slightly because firstly, I wouldn’t necessarily compare her to someone like Quentin. Also, she should have been given a lesson but it wasn’t Emma’s place. I just feel like the situation could have been handled better by the home team y’know. Like Kitty or [baby] Scott or Logan etc. In fact, I feel like the Uncanny team was slightly out of bounds by going their in the first place. And the reason I think it was personal for Emma was because of the last issue. It might just be me reading too much into it, but I think it started off as a mere lesson but then graduated into something more. She told the Cuckoos not to do anything to Jean, but when Warren happened, she seemed to lose control a bit. I think she knew she was going too far, which would explain why she backed down when Scott told her to… I mean, who the hell listens to Scott Summers right? Ahahahaha. (Emma certainly didn’t have to.) If you’ve read Grant Morrison’s New X-Men, you’d also know what Emma was hinting at when she said what she said to Logan. It was revenge on current (dead) Jean, not baby Jean.

But, that said, I’m sure many people still think like you and I do understand your point of view. It’s all in the way we interpret it I guess.

Can we just talk about this for a moment? So Jean is about 16 here (I might be wrong but it’s somewhere around that age) and she’s a prematurely developed telepath. Her big-brother-best-friend grows up and brings them to the future without considering the repercussions. Suddenly she’s in a school named after her and apparently, she’s dead. She finds out that her boyfriend grows up to be a crazed revolutionary who murdered their father figure. Big Hank shows her his memories and she finds out everything and as far as she knows, the group was always somehow together while she was alive. And to put it in perspective, before they came here, they were Xavier’s only students - Warren is her best friend. But coming here changed everything too quickly and it’s just all too soon that this is happening because it’s not time for Warren to go yet. As much as Warren wants to go home, she wants him by their side because they’re a team and going home won’t change the fact that this is what their lives will play out like and the instinctive thing to do would be to stay and make things right, as a group. So yes, I do think it was wrong of her to abuse her newly found powers but she shouldn’t get shit for it because it’s what anyone in her position would do and Emma could definitely have held back on the [obviously] personal attack.
